C Stroke

<---- Click On Picture for Video

Step #1:
Load your brush from both sides, not more than 3/4 down toward the ferrule. (Remember: Try to keep the paint out of the ferrule.)

Step #2:
With the brush perpendicular to the surface, start on the chisel-edge of the brush. Then, pull toward the left, forming the top edge of the "C".

Step #3:
Without stopping the motion, press down while pulling towards you.

Step #4:
Finally, lift back up to the chisel edge and move towards the right to complete the bottom edge of the "C".

Step #5:
Variations:
The quality of the "Chisel" of the brush will dictate the quality of the top and bottom edge of the "C". By moving in slightly different directions or by changing the angle, you can achieve many variations of the basic "C". Practice the "C"-Stroke and several variations until you feel comfortable as this stroke is the basis for many, more complicated strokes.
