Trio Flower Stroke

<---- Click On Picture for Video

Step #1:
Load the bottom of the trio brush with the main flower color of your choice. (I am using a Brilliant Magenta for this article.) Pull the left side of the brush through a lighter or contrasting color (example: yellow).

Step #2:
Start on the tip of the brush. Press down, pull towards you, lift and pull up to the tip – all in one continuous motion. Do not rotate or twist the brush during this stroke.

Step #3:
Reload your brush as in step 1. Rotate your surface so that the second stroke is directly in front of you – the same as the first stroke.

Step #4:
Repeat Step 2, with the end of the stroke coming to the end of the first stroke, which will be the center of the flower.

Step #5:
Repeat steps 3 and 4 an additional five or six times, rotating the surface between each stroke. Also, reload between each stroke for better quality.

Step #6:
Clean your brush. Then load the brush with a dark green on the bottom. Starting between two of the flower petals, stay on the tip of the brush and pull toward you for your stem. Be sure and stay on the tip for a finer line.

Step #7:
For the stem leaves, load the brush with the dark green color. Start away from the stem, on the tip of the brush. Press down, pull towards the stem, lift up while still pulling, making a fine line from the bottom of the leaf to the stem.

Step #8:
Repeat Step 7 on the other side of the stem, but a little lower. Depending on the length of your stem, and the number of leaves you wish to have, repeat this step as necessary.

Step #9:
Using Kala Stippler Brush 7710, you can add a center to your flower. Load the stippler with a dark green or contrasting color to your flower. Work your paint into the stippler on a practice surface until you get the desired effect. Stipple lightly in the center of the flower. Wash the brush, load lightly with yellow paint, and restipple the center lightly.

Step #10:
(Optional) Depending on the degree of pressure, and the amount of pulling, you can change the shape of the leaf. (See picture.)

Step #11:
(Optional) Using the Kala Trio Size Small, you can add smaller petals in between the larger flower petals. Load the Small Trio with yellow on the bottom, and the main petal color on the left side. The brush strokes are the same as in Step 2, 3, and 4. This should be done before Step 9 above.
